Floor Sanders
Floor sanders are used in floor surface preparation to remove the top surface of a wooden floor to leave a smooth finish. Often before finishing or re-finishing with wax or wood stain.
Floor sanding machines can be used on a variety of materials, including timber and parquet.
The most common types of floor sanders include:
- Belt sanders – also called drum sanders, use a strong sanding belt which moves at high speed. They’re more aggressive than orbital sanders and are best for initial work to remove and coatings or debris. They’re excellent for working on large, flat surfaces and get great results when working along the grain.
Orbital sanders use an abrasive pad that moved in an orbital motion. They’re not as aggressive as belt sanders and so they’re best for use in small areas and for finishing work.
